Piper Silvaticum Care
Piper silvaticum is a woody, climbing vine from the Piperaceae family, native to the eastern Himalayas, northeastern India, Myanmar, and parts of Southeast Asia. It grows in tropical forest understories and thrives in humid, shaded environments.
Traditionally used in ethnomedicine, its leaves and stems are valued for treating digestive and respiratory issues. Though less known than black pepper (Piper nigrum), it’s recognized for its aromatic properties and potential antimicrobial and antioxidant activity. The name silvaticum means "of the forest," reflecting its natural habitat.
Light: Piper Silvaticum prefers indirect sunlight. Any room with a bright window will do, and stay 3 to 6 feet away from the nearest light source. Brighter rooms will help it produce more leaves.
Water: A Piper Silvaticum likes the soil to be completely dry before watering next. Every 3 to 4 weeks is average.
Humidity: Piper Silvaticum like any environment. Average household humidity is great.
