How to Care for a Tradescantia Nanouk
Light: Tradescantia Nanouk prefers indirect sunlight. Any room with a bright window will do, and stay 3 to 6 feet away from the nearest light source. Brighter rooms will help it produce more leaves.
Water: A Tradescantia Nanouk can be tricky, but when the top few centimeters are dry, it's time for more water. Every 7 to 10 days is the average. If in a pot, be sure the plant is not sitting in water.
Humidity: They like any environment. Average household humidity is great.
Tradescantia Nanouk Information
Tradescantia Nanouk (Tradescantia albiflora 'Nanouk'), is also known as Fantasy Venice. It is a type of spiderwort plant that has become an Instagram favourite, and a must-have for plant lovers. Pink, purple, green, and stripes create patterns on its lush leaves on stems. Under the right conditions (bright, indirect light), it can grow a long trail, and you’ll even find small white and yellow flowers emerging from its pink buds during the growing season.
Tradescantia Nanouk is a patented plant, developed in the Netherlands to create new hardy and vigorous Tradescantia plants with beautiful flower coloration. It grows best in bright, indirect light, so a north or east-facing window is best. Water your plant when the top inch or so of soil is dry, and take care not to let it completely dry out. North-facing windows will provide less light, so your plant will need less water there than in an east-facing window.
Tradescantia Nanouk is a hardy grower that it doesn’t require fertilizer. If you’d like to fertilize, feed it with a standard houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength every two to four weeks during the spring and summer growing seasons.
Use standard well-draining houseplant soil when potting your Tradescantia Nanouk. To support drainage, it’s a good idea to add a handful of perlite or coarse sand to the mix. Be sure to use a pot or container with a hole in the bottom and a drainage tray to protect household surfaces.
